2023 Marketing All-Stars, Brand Marketing Team of the Year: Tillamook

The ThinkNW Marketing All-Stars presents a rare opportunity to delve into the minds of some of the world’s top leaders and talent shaping our industry and region.

This week, we recognize Tillamook as our Brand Marketing Team of the Year—featuring the talent for this iconic Pacific Northwest company that continues to find new ways to delight. 

Will Patton, director of the brand’s marketing team, answered a few questions and helped us celebrate his entire team, which you can see below.

What do you value most in your work in this role, and what do you consider your biggest accomplishment in your current role?

I most value the opportunity to tell the great stories of this 115-year-old farmer-owned Oregon dairy cooperative to the rest of the nation. I believe it is truly a once-in-a-career marketing opportunity. For me, contributing to a tremendous cooperative daring to take a regionally iconic brand to consumers nationwide is inspiring. In just five years, we’ve soared from almost no household penetration east of the Rockies to a significant presence in-store and in consumers’ homes. It’s exciting to be part of the country’s fastest-growing ice cream, natural cheddar cheese, and cream cheese brand.

What do you like to do outside of your work?

Over the years, I’ve enjoyed coaching youth sports, non-profit board work, and mentoring. My greatest pleasure is my family—there need not be any particular agenda—just spending time together.

What impact does the Pacific Northwest have on your work ?

I’m proud to be a native Oregonian. There’s something extraordinary about the Pacific Northwest: four distinct seasons and proximity to mountains, lakes, ocean, and high desert, all forming a beautiful backdrop for a moderate and thoughtful pace of life.

How would you characterize the Pacific Northwest marketing/creative community? In your mind, what makes it unique?

Blessed. There is abundant world-class talent in the Pacific Northwest, from amazingly creative one-person design studios to corporate marketing titans; the area is rich with people with incredible skills, insights, and the capacity to tell stories that forge emotional connections with consumers.
