We’re pleased to announce our first class of ThinkNW Marketing All-Stars. Chosen by the ThinkNW board and executive team, this program kicks off a tradition of recognizing the unique marketing talent that drives our industry and region forward.

We asked our honorees to share a bit about their work, lives and what the Pacific Northwest means to them.

Here’s what Alisha Valavanis, president and CEO of the Seattle Storm and Force 10 Sports Management, had to say.

How long have you been in your current role?

Seven years.

What do you value most in your work in this role, and what do you consider your biggest accomplishment in your current role?

I love that the WNBA and the Seattle Storm are positioned at the unique intersection of professional women’s sports, business and the potential for social impact.

The most important part of my role is the opportunity to work with the Storm ownership, staff, players & coaches, and all our stakeholders on efforts to drive diversity, equity and inclusion in our society.

And, of course, the 2018 and 2020 WNBA Championships.

What do you like to do outside of your work?

Cooking for family and friends! The conversations and the laughter around a shared meal with those I love is my favorite time spent.

I’m also a huge Seattle sports fan, so supporting our local teams is definitely a passion.

What impact does the Pacific Northwest have on your work?

The PNW is a region with both stunning natural beauty and adventure. And all that comes with the innovation and forward movement of a city leading in so many industries. It’s a special balance.

How would you characterize the Pacific Northwest marketing/creative community? In your mind, what makes it unique?

It’s collaborative and connected to the people and the values of the region.
