2022 ThinkNW Marketing All-Star: Ethan Raup, CEO of KEXP

Since its founding at the University of Washington in 1972, KEXP has remained focused on championing music from all around the globe – spanning eras, styles and traditions. It operates one of the most influential listener-supported music radio stations in the world, broadcasting at 90.3 KEXP-FM, Seattle and through the website and mobile apps. KEXP’s YouTube channel features exclusive in-studio performances and interviews from emerging and established artists, and at the Seattle Center, they produce hundreds of live performances and music events each year, many of which are open to public audiences at no charge.

Ethan Raup started as KEXP’s Chief Operating Officer in 2014 and was moved into the role of CEO in June of 2022. During his tenure, he has dedicated substantial resources to eliminating gender and race pay disparities, overseen strategic investments in technology and infrastructure that will enable KEXP to serve digital audiences more fully, and championed meaningful changes to KEXP’s programming and internal roles in alignment with KEXP’s commitment to becoming an anti-racist organization.
